This Vriesea hybrid was made by John Arden. The seed parent he used was a Vr. fosteriana, which he acquired from Peru and gave the number 040. He pollinated it with Vr. fosteriana 'Red Chestnut'. The hybrid has has lots of white in the background and dark brownish red lines. It is very attractive and rarely offered.
