Neoregelia 'Takemura Princeps' has a long and mysterious history. It is thought to be a cross of Neoregelia 'Grande' X princeps.  It has purple coloring through out with splashes of dark red.  This medium large neoregelia grows to 12-16" wide. Per the article written by James Elmore, "Fabled Takemura's", in the first issue of Grande Magazine (1978) It is explained that apparently seed of a Neoregelia concentrica hybrid was sent from Germany to Takemura in Japan. Takemura shared some of these with Ralph Davis in Florida.
