When Dimmitt made this hybrid of Tillandsia ixioides x recurvifolia,the T. recurvifolia went by the name of T. meridionalis. The name refers to the how the plant looks when viewed from above, a symmetrical rosette covered with white scurf. The pink spike will produce yellow flowers.
