We acquired this as T. sp. (Leme 4535) from the collection of Elton Leme in 1999. It was found growing in Southern Brazil - Rio Grande du Sul. It was finally published as Tillandsia jonesii in 2000. It is a small tillandsia with stiff dark purple foliage and produces a 2 inch red spike with bright pink bracts and blue petals.
