This species from Ecuador was published in 1983 by Werner Rauh as Vriesea andreettae.  In 1993 it was reclassified as a Tillandsia species, T. andreetae. It has an open rosette with narrow white leaves and produces a dark rose colored spike with dark purple petals. It can have either a single spike or a branched inflorescence.
