This species used to go by the name Tillandsia xiphioides subsp. prolata, but was recently elevated to a species - Tillandsia prolata. It grows much larger than xiphhioides and has a very long peduncle (scape).  It will produce large, fragrant recurving petals, mostly white, occasionally with a touch of pale purple.
