Tillandsia Edmund Campeon - (T. brachycaulos X schatzlii)
Bright red coloring when grown in strong light. This is a natural hybrid is of T. brachycaulos X T. schatzlii. We collected it in Mexico many years ago and has been registered under two different names. The other name is T. Scion, but wrongly identified as T. ionantha x schlaztlii. The foliage is thick and leathery, and is red most all the time. It is slow growing and 7-8 cm tall. It has a short pink spike that is barely exposed beyond the leaves, producing a light purple flower.
