Guzmania Hirtzii
I’ve wanted this plant for a long time and now have a great looking start to this rare plant.
This rare Guzmania species was dedicated to Alexander Hirtz, the German-born botanist based in Ecuador. He was responsible for the discovery of more than 1000 species of orchids, bromeliads and gesneriads. Blooming plants are up to 4 feet tall. The foliage is pale green and slightly epidote giving it a silvery appearance. Native to Ecuador this species grows at 1700-2500 m elevation. We acquired our plants from the private collection of Jeffrey Kent.
